Our mission
UES Mutual Aid Network is a conduit for direct aid and direct action based on the needs of our community. Our goal is to connect the people who live and work in this neighborhood to necessary resources across the city and to each other.
We are a networking hub for different organizations to communicate with one another as well as an independent organization. We aim for long-term solidarity rather than momentary charity.
We are not a fundraising organization nor a bureaucratic one. We aim to fill in gaps that government, private, and public infrastructure overlook with direct action. Our goal is to address structural inequalities at their root rather with the goal of elimination rather than triage and maintenance.
UES Mutual Aid Network will not do work on behalf of any city or private agency, but will advocate for work they should be doing. We show government agencies, elected officials, and organizations what needs to be done but do not intend to replace or remove the responsibility from these actors of their duties to the community.
